ReturnRetired teacher Mr. Choi has lived with dementia for over twenty years. The prolonged caregiving burden significantly worsened his wife’s depression, leading to frequent family conflicts. In early 2025, with a social worker's assistance, Mr. Choi moved into the Yan Chai Nursing Home. The professional 24-hour care has provided Mr. Choi with a stable and comfortable sanctuary, greatly relieving Mrs. Choi’s stress and remarkably improving her health.
She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the medical team’s attentive care and devotion, particularly praising the resident doctor’s prompt diagnosis and treatment of Mr. Choi’s skin condition and the patience and attentiveness that nurses and care workers showed in their daily care. She also commended the rehabilitative training provided by the physiotherapists and occupational therapists, as well as the diverse activities organized by the social work
team. Mrs. Choi lauded the entire staff for their unity and dedication in maintaining a clean, cozy, and home-like environment for all residents.
“Now, I can finally step back from being an exhausted caregiver and just be his wife again,” said Mrs. Choi.
