On 26 November, 2025, a large fire broke out at the Wang Fuk Court apartment complex in Tai Po. 1,984 households in the complex lost their homes, 168 fatalities were reported in the fire, 79 sustained injuries. The Yan Chai Emergency Assistance Relief Fund quickly mobilised, arriving at the scene on that evening of the fire to distribute relief supplies to affected residents. We have established a comprehensive short, medium, and long-term support plan to help them rebuild their lives."
Yan Chai’s emergency relief efforts for the Tai Po fire has been made possible by the overwhelming response from corporations, organisations, foundations, and individuals across all sectors. Through direct donations, emergency supplies, and relief materials, they have enabled us to respond to the community’s needs swiftly and effectively. 1. Funeral Assistance: Assisting families in coping with the sudden burial expenses or dealing with related issues.
2. Financial Aid: Providing housing, living subsidies.
3. Emotional Support: Professional counseling and support, including hotline services provided by clinical psychologists, social workers, and counselors.
4. Medical Services: Offering traditional Chinese, Western Medicine and dental care.
5. Household Equipment Subsidy: Funding for the purchase of essential furniture, appliances, and daily necessities, etc.
6. Elderly Care: Outreach personal care services and allowances for caregivers.
7. Childcare Services: Daycare, after-school care, and homework guidance services.

The Yan Chai Emergency Assistance Relief Fund (YEAR Fund) was established on 1 December 1992. Its aim is to provide financial assistance to individuals affected by accidents and catastrophes, helping them to navigate through tough times. To date, over 17,000 beneficiaries have received more than 120 million dollars in support.
