Our 12 Yan Chai affiliated Kindergartens/Child Care Centres jointly organize professional training activities and education seminar every year. This year, the education seminar was held on 26 November 2016 at Yan Chai Hospital No.2 Secondary School. The theme of the seminar was “School Safety”. Miss TAM Kam-lan, Annie, GBS, JP, Permanent Secretary for Labour & Welfare was invited to officiate at the opening ceremony. The thematic lecture was given by Prof. LAM Sau-hong, Adjunct Associate Professor, and Dr. YU Wai-ping, Winnie, Honorary Professional Consultant, Department of Educational Administration and Policy, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. By using different case samples in a lively way, our teachers learnt a lot about the legal responsibilities of school. Besides, there were three sectional training workshops for all staff members. Mr. CHAN Tak-hang, a retired school principal, shared his views on effective parent-school communication and conflict management skills. Mr. LEUNG Wing-lok, a senior journalist, led a role-play activity to demonstrate the operation of mass media and the skills when facing media. Ms. CHENG Wai-kwan, officer of the “SMILE” On-site Pre-school Integrated Services of BGCA, inspired our staff members about school crisis by introducing the concept of “Near Miss”.
